BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (AP) — A southern Kentucky couple figured it was the right time to get married.
John Payne and Sheryl Brooks tied the knot on New Year’s Day, timing the ceremony to take place at 11:11 a.m. on 1-1-11.
About 25 friends and family members gathered at Fountain Square Park in Bowling Green on Saturday to witness the ceremony.
It was a spontaneous wedding for the couple who had been together for more than a decade. They initially wanted to hold a private ceremony. At the spur of the moment, they decided to invite a few friends and family members to the park.
After the couple recited their vows, Payne wrapped his arms around Brooks, dipped her and kissed her.
