The Westview Lady Chargers ran out of steam in an effort to complete a comeback in the championship game of the Heritage Bank Hardwood Classic on Dec. 22 at Calloway County High School in Murray, Ky.
The Lady Chargers fell behind the host Calloway County girls in the first, fought to whittle a double-digit deficit back to a point late in the third quarter and then wore down in the fourth. Calloway County put together a 14-5 run late and forced numerous Westview turnovers to win the first-place trophy.
Kaley Leyhue’s eight points topped all Lady Charger scorers in the lowest-scoring outing of the season for the Westview girls.
The Lady Chargers topped Stewart County, 49-37, in the semifinals and beat Graves County, 58-31, in the quarterfinals.
