Twisters better, SF 1-1 at Martin; Central table run is ‘classic’
The Obion Central boys ran the table in their post-Christmas action.
On Wednesday, the Rebels prevailed for the third time in as many outings after the holiday and fourth straight contest overall, bettering Adamsville 69-62 in the McNairy Central Christmas Classic.
At Martin, South Fulton was 1-1 on Wednesday in the 46th annual Martin Lions Club Christmas Tournament.
The Red Devils fell 47-33 in a morning game against Madison Academic.  However, SF prevailed 62-54 over Hickman County (Ky.) in an evening game.
At Hendersonville,  the Union City boys had a one-point lead with just under four minutes left, but a trio of turnovers in rapid succession helped Summertown to a 77-65 triumph.
Today’s action has South Fulton against Fulton City this morning at 11:30 for seventh place at the Lions Club Tournament. UC battles Hardin Valley at 11:30 for seventh in the Beech Holiday Tournament.
OC 69, Adamsville 62
Jacob Wade reached the 20-point plateau for the second straight outing with exactly that number of markers against the Cardinals.
Junior Rebel guard LaDevin Fair offered 17 points, eight rebounds and three steals for the victorious county locals.  Joshua Gale totaled a stat sheet that included 15 points and eight rebounds for OC (8-7).
SF 64, Hickman Co. 52
After giving up a five-point lead early in the third quarter and ending up behind by a like amount of tallies, South Fulton (6-7) shook up its lineup.
First-year Red Devil coach Wes Miller yanked his regular five in favor of Hunter Hutchins, Clint Wells, KeShawn McManus, Tevarius James and Khiry Lewis in an effort to breathe fresh air into SF.
The tactic worked as SF went on an 11-0 run.
Montre Lewis was South Fulton’s leading scorer with 17, while Khiry Lewis tacked on eight.
Madison Acad. 47, SF 33
The Mustangs outscored the Devils 28-11 in the second half on Wednesday..
Jordan Davis was the lone Red Devil to score in double digits with 12 points during the loss.
Summertown 77, UC 65
Antonio Cox accounted for a team-best 24 points, while LaMarcus Allen added 14 for the Twisters (6-12). Both players drained a trio of trifectas.
Summertown’s Bubba Clifton led all scorers with 41 tallies — 19 of which came by way of free throw.
All totaled, S’town shot 35 free throws, while Union City visited the charity stripe on just 15 occasions.
“Our effort was a lot better today,” UC coach Shane Sisco said. “We had a few too many turnovers, but at least we showed up ready to play.”
