A total of four Lady Twisters finished in twin figures as the locals prevailed 57-53.
The UC girls weren’t nearly as fortunate in their nightcap on Tuesday, falling to host Murray 66-51.
Meanwhile, the Twister boys turned in a lackluster performance, according to head coach Shane Sisco, in a 72-32 defeat to Christ Presbyterian Academy in the opening round of the Beech Holiday Tournament in Hendersonville.
The UC boys play Summertown this afternoon at 1 in the loser’s bracket.
The Lady Twisters play Clinton County tonight at 6 in pool play at Murray.
UC 57, C’ville NE 53 (G)
Senior Shenisha Huff topped the scorebook for Union City with 16 tallies during its four-point win at Murray.
Also, game MVP Jackie Hudson finished with a double-double (12 points and 12 rebounds), while Amber Fair offered 14 markers and Kierra Davis added 10.
Murray 66, UC 51 (G)
Union City kept pace through the first half, trailing 28-24 at halftime, but the Lady Tigers bested the locals 19-11 in the third quarter to get a comfortable double-digit lead.
Fair had a Lady Twister-best 23 points, while Hudson added 10.
CPA 72, UC 32 (B)
The Twisters (6-11) trailed 40-11 at halftime on Tuesday.
“We drove up this morning at 8:30 and it’s like we never got off the bus,” Sisco said. “We just didn’t show up.
“It was embarrassing and a lack of effort.”
Antonio Cox was the lone Union City player with noteworthy stats (19 points).
