E.W. James Charitable Foundation recently presented a $20,000 check to Habitat for Humanity.
The organization was chosen for its involvement in communities that E.W. James and Son’s Supermarkets serve, a foundation spokesman said.
The E.W. James Charitable Foundation is dedicated to strengthening families through education, good health and well being. The Foundation chooses a different beneficiary every year which meets those goals, and raises money through store events as well as the annual Charity Golf Tournament.
This year’s tournament was held at WynRidge Greens and Golf Club in Troy. It was underwritten by ATA, Alexander Thompson and Arnold Public Accounting Firm.
Cash was awarded for the Hula Hole, sponsored by Land O’ Frost; Closest to Hole and Longest Drive. Other awards, such as an opportunity to split $10,000 between the winner and charity by White and Associates and a chance to win a new Chevy Malibu from Terry Petty Chevrolet-Buick, were available.
The tournament was deemed a huge success and earned a record amount of $20,000 for Habitat affiliates throughout the E. W. James and Sons Supermarket service area.
“Obion County Habitat for Humanity would like to say thank you to the E.W. James Charitable Foundation, the employees of E.W. James and Sons Supermarkets, and all the individuals, companies and sponsors that worked so diligently to make this event a success. Building homes and building hope would not be possible without our local sponsors,” a Habitat spokesman said.
