Wayne Edgar Harrell Sr., 72, of Obion died Dec. 23, 2010, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
Services will be held 1 p.m. Friday at St. James Missionary Baptist Church in Obion, with the Rev. Jessie L.O. Webb officiating. Burial will follow at Beech Grove Cemetery near Obion.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. until the funeral hour Friday at the church.
Cryer Funeral Home in Obion is in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers will be Randy Evans, Jamie Evans, Derrick Harrell Jr., Lamont Foggie, Richard Hood, Gerald Hollis, Casey Hood and Lynn Jones.
Honorary pallbearers will be Corey Harrell, Jason Harrell, Justin Harrell, Terry Harrell, Christopher Holloway and Marlon Holloway.
He was born March 31, 1938, in Henning, son of the late George and Anna Mae (McGregor) Harrell. He was a public works employee and supervisor for the Town of Obion, where he was also a volunteer firefighter and part-time police officer. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinal baseball fan.
He is survived by seven sons, Rodney Keith Harrell, Derrick Harrell and Tony Harrell, all of Union City, Wayne Harrell Jr. of Savannah, Ga., Terry Harrell of Jackson and Tim Brown and Bernard Brown, both of Obion; four daughters, Valerie Jill Yandal of Hickman, Ky., Nina Bonds Island of Polk Station, Tina Bonds Smith of Obion and Shemecka Williams of Union City; four brothers, Edgar Harrell and Ellis Harrell, both of Martin, and Richard Harrell and Timothy Harrell, both of Ripley; his stepbrother, George Tuggle of Detriot; six sisters, Georgianna Harrell of St. Louis, Annie Lee Harrell Blackburn and Martha Dean Daily, both of Nashville, Norma Louise Harrell Hudson and Brenda Kate Harrell, both of Ripley, and Lottie Renee Harrell Perry of Houston; 32 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
