James Herbert “Herbie” Hopper

James Herbert “Herbie” Hopper, 50, of Hornbeak died Dec. 25, 2010, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City.
Services were to be held today at 1 p.m. at Samburg Assembly of God with the Revs. David Gray and B.J. Cohn officiating. Burial was to follow in Hornbeak City Cemetery.
White-Ranson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangments.
Pallbearers were to be Doc Calhoun, Charles Hooper, Bart Smith, Tim Laster, Johnny Dean, Michael Hunt, Will Hopper and Joe Clanton.
Honorary pallbearers were to be Aubree Shumate, Hunter Shumate, Weston Hunt, Ethan Hunt, Parker Dean, Payton Dean, Hunter Calhoun, Austin Hopper, Dylan Hawks, Jacob Lynch, Anthony Roberson, Chase Clanton, Garrett Osborne, Rusty Smith, Stewart Copper, Kenny Fowler, Timmy Gantt and his fellow employees at Tyson Foods in Union City and Coffey Construction in Hickman, Ky.
He was born Jan. 12, 1960, in Obion County, son of the late Dolphus Waymon “Dubie” Hopper and Betty (Fields) Hopper of Tiptonville. He married Christy Riddle July 13, 1990. She survives. He worked at Tyson Foods as a truck driver in the hatchery department and as a part-time employee at Coffey Construction. He attended Samburg Assembly of God.
He is also survived by two sons, Joseph Tyler Hopper and James Taylor Hopper, both of Hornbeak; his sister, Lourie Coupe of Tiptonville; his brother, Mike Hopper of Tiptonville; three nephews; one niece; and two great-nephews.
He was also preceded in death by his grandparents, J.W. and Lagretta Terrell Fields and Hubert and Farrah Mae Burton Hopper; and his brother, Dwight Jock Hopper.
