Charles Melvin “Goob” Moore, 66, of Rives died Dec. 25, 2010, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City.
Services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday at White-Ranson Funeral Home, with the Rev. Donald Doster officiating. Burial is to follow at East View Cemetery.
Friends may visit 5-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Pallbearers are to be Roger Laird, Jack Laird, Billy Laird, Jamie Hall, Ben Presson and Pat Smith.
Honorary pallbearers are to be Everett Cochran, Tim Laster, Larry Priest, Charlie Priest, Bryan Patrick and Frankie Moland.
He was born June 8, 1944, in Humphreys County, son of the late C.P. “Charlie” and Catherine (Ballard) Moore. He married Cathy Ann Laird Oct. 29, 1997. She survives. He was a retired welder for Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. having worked there for 35 years. He attended Alamo Baptist Church near Rives.
He is also survived by four daughters and a son-in-law, Lena Moore and Lilly Moore, both of Rives, Billie Jean and Frank Moland of Union City and Tammy Reece Vasquez of Dresden; his son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Sue Moore of Union City; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; his sister, Karen Greer of Union City; two brothers, Ronny “Shorty” Moore of Union City and Reece and Vicky Moore of Augusta, Ga.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey Moore of Union City.
