Completed arrangements are being announced for Waymon Wallace, 75, of Union City, who died 11:17 p.m. Dec. 21, 2010, at Union City Manor Nursing Home.
Services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home. Mike McDaniel and Bill Denman will officiate. Burial will follow in East View Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home 5-7 p.m. today.
Pallbearers will be Larry Johnson and his nephews.
The family will gratefully receive floral tributes or memorials made to Reelfoot Youth Camp, P.O. Box 736, Union City, TN 38281.
He was born June 3, 1935, in Obion County, son of the late Milus Herbert and Ethel Mae (Gantlett) Wallace. He married the former Laverne Burress Dec. 6, 1963. She survives.
He had been employed at the former Salant & Salant in Union City and at Superior Fireplace. He was a member of Fremont Church of Christ and a former member of Lakeview Church of Christ in Samburg. An avid fisherman, he had been a member of the board of directors of the Reelfoot Youth Camp, had completed the Union City Citizens Police Academy and had attended the Obion County Senior Center for many years where he helped with the shuffleboard competition. He had also played for the former Kentucky Bend Bashers and Tiptonville baseball teams. He graduated in 1954 from the former Hornbeak High School.
He is also survived by two sisters, Mary Avella Bruce of Union City and Ina Mai Snead of Fulton; three sisters-in-law, Virginia Wallace of Camden, Ruth Wallace of Dyersburg and Carolin Wallace of Hornbeak; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was also preceded in death by five brothers, Clarence Wallace, Paul Wallace, Riley Wallace, Raymond Wallace and Namon Wallace; and his sister, Irene Williams.
