Westview senior Jacob Lloyd lit up the Tomcats for 52 points to propel the Chargers to a 92-84 win. The Lady Chargers gave up a fourth-quarter lead and fell, 45-40, to the Haywood girls in the early game. For his 52 points, Lloyd scored from all over the court in what was, according to WHS head coach J.B. Suiter, a single-game scoring record for the Chargers. Lloyd connected on 22-of-24 shots from the free-throw line and drilled six shots from behind the 3-point arch while also scoring off the dribble. Lloyd got help from Javier Gordon with 13 points and 11 from Antonio Hogard. Westview led 21-18 after a quarter and 48-43 at halftime. The Chargers added six points to their cushion in the third to carry a 75-64 lead into the fourth frame. The win improves the WHS boys to 11-0 overall and 5-0 in District 13-2A. The WHS boys will next play in the 46th Annual Martin Lions Club Christmas Tournament on Dec. 28. In the girls game, the Lady Chargers were ahead 35-26 heading into the fourth quarter, but things fell apart in the final stanza. The Lady Tomcats outscored Westview 19-5 in the fourth to win, 45-40. Breanna Pitcher led WHS with 16 points. The WHS girls are playing today (Tuesday) and Wednesday in the Hardwood Classic at Murray, Ky., before vying in the Lions Club Tournament starting on Dec. 28.
