Several activities were held last week for our residents at Van Ayer Healthcare & Rehab. The fan favorite, BINGO, was played on Monday. Country Store, Arts & Crafts, Rhythm Band, and Funny Money Auction were a few of many activities held last week.

A different activity is held in the morning and afternoon every day! In room activities are also conducted for those residents that are not able to attend the activities held in the dining room.

The staff works hard to make sure that each resident is able to participate in activities that are most important to them. We welcome anyone to our friendly and warm-filled atmosphere to attend any activity that may be conducted during the week.

We had several visitors come to our facility to sing Christmas Carols and pass out Christmas cards to our residents. On Monday, Dec. 13, the Boys Scouts came to sing Christmas songs. They did a wonderful job and the residents and staff enjoyed them here. The troop was greeted with cookies the residents baked for them and hot chocolate. The Girl’s Basketball team from Westview also came to sing Christmas Carols. They as well did a wonderful job. Their voices carried throughout the facility and it was a delight for our residents.

The HOSA club from Westview and the Kiwanis Action Club also came to our facility to pass out Christmas cards they had made to our residents. This was very thoughtful and the residents truly enjoyed all the visitors and cards.

At our monthly in-service meeting held on Wednesday, Dec. 15, the Employee of the Month and Caregiver of the Year were announced with great pleasure. The Employee of the Month was Jill Yarbrough. The Caregiver of the Year was Sheila Walker. These two employees are exceptional, compassionate, hard-working, and always willing to help others. We would like to thank Jill and Sheila for all their hard work and dedication. Congratulations Jill and Sheila!

On Tuesday, Dec. 21, all Department Heads will be cooking breakfast for the residents and staff.  Also, on this day the resident Christmas Party will be held at 6 p.m. for family and staff. Santa and Mrs. Claus will be present to hand out gifts to the residents. We look forward to this event every year! It is a joyous and thankful time to be able to share companionship with our residents, staff, and family. We would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

At Van Ayer Healthcare & Rehab, we look forward to providing our residents with fun activities and strive to make our facility feel like home.
