Martin native named in Top 30 under 40

The North Idaho Business Journal has recognized a 32-year-old Martin native as being one of the Top 30 successful business persons under the age of 40.

Westview High School graduate John Thomas Sinclair has gone from packaging used shoes to becoming an Associate Broker for Windmere Coeur d’ Alene Realty in Idaho.

His success has landed him a slot on the Top 30 Under 40 list of the North Idaho Business Journal.

When asked why he chose real estate as a profession, Sinclair said that he always had a love for real estate.

“When I was in high school I would stay up late to watch real estate infomercials and beg my mom to buy me the course. The first purchase on my first credit card was that real estate course. When I was 18 I took all my graduation money and put it towards my first rental property. A few years later I realized I could make money by helping others purchase a product that I had a passion for. I have been hooked since,” Sinclair responded.

The young business man credited his supportive parents, Sam and Donna Sinclair of Martin, as a factor that helped him achieved early success by encouraging him.

Sinclair also credited his wife of nearly 10 years for support, Amanda.

Sinclair said one of his mentors was his first broker – Belinda Overman of Martin Realty.

“She still puts deals together on napkins over coffee. She can sell homes to buyers or sellers that haven’t yet realized that they need to buy or sell,” he added.

Sinclair moved to Idaho in 2005. He and his wife have four children: Alexander, 8; Emily Grace, 7; Kaitlyn, 5; Anne, 2 months. The couple is expecting another child in May 2011.

He is an associate broker for Windermere Coeur d’ Alene Realty.
