Now in its 13th season, the David Johnson Chorus invites the community to experience the magic of one of its concerts as they present “Come Celebrate Christmas.”
Families all across West Tennessee have made attending a DJC Christmas concert part of their holiday tradition.
Music lovers of all ages have learned that a David Johnson Chorus concert is like no other. Their shows feature something for everyone. This year’s Christmas show is no exception.
There will be familiar carols sung a cappella, as only DJC can; carols like “Good King Winceslas,” “I Saw Three Ships” and “The Holly and the Ivy.”
Several familiar Christmas songs will be sung in a jazz style that will surely surprise the listeners.
Director David Johnson said this year’s Christmas show has some of the most beautiful arrangements of songs that DJC has every presented. It will be an experience you won’t soon forget. For example, the songs “O Holy Night” and “Silent Night” have been intertwined in a beautiful and astonishing arrangement. The finale, “The First Noel,” will leave the audience breathless.
As usual, there will be the surprises that put a smile on the listeners’ faces and laughter in their hearts.
Add to this the beautiful a cappella spirituals “Sweet Little Jesus Boy” and “The Cherry Tree Carol” and it’s a concert that will put a feeling in the listeners’ hearts that will last beyond the holiday season.
The David Johnson Chorus will be performing this Yuletide concert at Kenton First Baptist Church on Sunday at 6 p.m. There will be no admission charge.
