 MONTAGUE | | | MARTIN, Tenn. — Senior Lauren Montague became just the seventh volleyball player in UT Martin history to tally 1,000 kills. Montague led The University of Tennessee at Martin with 10 kills and a .161 hitting percentage, but it was not enough for the host Skyhawks to upend Ohio Valley Conference regular season champion Morehead State Friday night in Skyhawk Fieldhouse. Morehead State, led by Holly Evans with 11 kills and a .667 hitting percentage, cruised to a 3-0 victory over UT Martin. Morehead State won the first set 25-16, the second set 25-15 and the third set 25-11. As a team Morehead State hit .326 and improved its record to 23-7 and its league mark to 16-1. UT Martin fell to 5-24 and 3-14. Jenna Miller piled up 18 assists, while sophomore Kasey Elswick had 13 digs to move up to No. 5 on the UT Martin top 10 list. The sophomore from Louisville, Ky., has 1,099 career digs and needs 65 more digs to move up. | | | |
