Members and patrons of the Community Concert Association of Union City/Obion County will have the opportunity to attend the first of three of their reciprocal concerts through the Dyersburg Community Concert Association next week. Internationally acclaimed pianist and recording artist Eric Himy will perform a virtuosic mix of works by Gershwin, Debussy, Chopin and Liszt at the Yates Auditorium in Dyersburg Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. This very special event is sponsored in part by South Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts. The New York Times described Himy’s playing as “flawlessly poised, elegant and brilliant.” A Julliard graduate, he has been concertized worldwide to critical acclaim, reviewed by the Washington Post, BBC, Revue Musicale De Suisse Romande, and featured in numerous international classical music publications. He has won several important competitions, including the 1988 World Piano Competition in Cincinnati, the Kosciuszko Chopin Prize in New York and top honors at the 1991 Milosz Magin International Competition in Paris. He has released an all-Ravel CD on Ivory Classics and two recordings of Mozart and Schumann for the Centaur label. This year’s Dyersburg Community Concert Association offerings also include John Davidson on Feb. 19 and the Andy Stein Duo on March 26. To be admitted to the Dyersburg shows, members and patrons of the Community Concert Association of Union City/Obion County should bring a ticket from one of the local shows. A stub from a previously held show will work. All local shows will begin at 7:30 p.m. and will be held at Union City Civic Auditorium.
