The Martin Police Department has announced Halloween will be observed in Martin as scheduled on Oct. 31, a Sunday.
A police spokesman said there had been discussions about moving the observance to Monday, but the police department and city leaders have decided to proceed with the assigned day.
Police are urging local residents to exercise caution when canvassing neighborhoods with trick-or-treaters.
As an alternative, many local churches now offer events such as fall festivals, trunk or treat events and other family-oriented activities on Oct. 31.
