PADUCAH, Ky. (AP) — A long wrangle over a Paducah hotel has concluded and the building is being prepared for demolition.
The Paducah Sun reported workers erected a chain-link fence around the Executive Inn on Monday and city workers closed an Ohio River floodgate that makes the property further inaccessible to the public.
Some final pieces of furniture were given to the River City Mission for a yard sale.
Demolition began Tuesday, but contractor Brad Youngblood of Youngblood Excavation in Mayfield says little will be visible from outside for the first few weeks as workers gut the interior.
The building housed 434 guest rooms.
