Milling crews from Ford Construction Co. will be in the Pleasant Valley Avenue area soon, with work beginning at the intersection of East Reelfoot Avenue and Pleasant Valley Avenue and going to the end of Pleasant Valley Avenue at the city limits sign where Pleasant Valley Road begins, according to Stephen Ladd, director of Union City Public Works Department.
Residential driveways will be transitioned to the new asphalt where needed. Citizens are asked to be patient and to cooperate with the contractors. Driveway transitions may take several weeks to complete, Ladd said.
Residents are asked to keep vehicles off the roadway during this time because of loose gravel, dust and debris that can fly from the milling machine as it clears asphalt from the roadway. In addition, vehicles left on the roadway will hinder the process of street repair and slow down the work schedule. Vehicles left in the way when the milling machine arrives in an area may be towed.
