PADUCAH, Ky. (AP) — A $1.6 million pavilion used for skating and winter sporting events in Paducah is on ice for now.
Paducah Parks Director Mark Thompson told The Paducah Sun the 37,800-square-foot Paducah Dome Pavilion won’t be back in action until March because of the demolition of the Executive Inn, located behind the pavilion site north of downtown.
Mayor Bill Paxton said there’s no need to take a chance that it get damaged. He said the pavilion will return in time for the April quilt show.
The city purchased the pavilion this year because quilt show vendors needed additional space after the Executive Inn closed.
State regulations bar the pavilion being up more than six months in a 12-month period because it is a temporary structure. It was put up in March and taken down in May.
