FIELD FIRE Posted: Tuesday, October 5, 2010 7:28 am FIELD FIRE — Obion County farmer Bill Thompson lost farming equipment when a field he farms caught fire Saturday afternoon on Stanley Chapel Church Road. The land is owned by Hal Jernigan. A bulldozer used to help fight the fire can be seen in this photo as a combine is driven away from the fire. An Obion County Rescue Squad spokesman said Thompson lost two grain trailers and had one tractor-trailer truck damaged. The truck, though not destroyed, has damage to the rear tires and rims. The other truck was able to be unhooked from the trailer and driven out of harm’s way before suffering any damage. In addition to the rescue squad, the Rives Volunteer Fire Department and the Tennessee Forestry Service responded to the fire. The Union City Fire Department was on the scene, but did not have to engage in fighting the fire. None |
