Apple Festival celebrates 39

The Georgia Apple Festival in Gilmer County, Ga., will celebrate its 39th anniversary in October.
Officially designated as the state’s “Apple Capital,” Gilmer County’s Hwy. 52 East, also known as Apple Alley, features more than a dozen apple houses and orchards with pick-your-own apples, pig races, hay rides, petting zoos and great apple-based foods and products.
The festival will take place Oct. 9-10 and Oct.16-17 from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. on Saturdays and 9: a.m.-5 p.m. on Sundays.
Admission is $5 for adults, with children 10 and younger admitted free.
