LIFE SKILLS — Obion County 4-Hers recently participated in the Western Region 4-H Life Skills Contest in Jackson. During the contest, 4-Hers competed at the following stations: “Making Change,” “Making Healthy Food Choices,” “Food Scene Investigators,” “Environmental Health,” “Making Career Choices” and “How Active Are You.” The Obion County 4-H Life Skills team placed second out of eight teams. Participants learned to read food labels, how to determine the correct change of purchases, how to identify potentially hazardous foods and how to identify career needs. Additional benefits of participation come from the development of leadership capabilities and meeting other young people and professionals. The junior high team included (from left) Erin Chappel, Cassidy Robinson and Shelly Pate.
