Weakley County Trustee Marci Floyd encourages local citizens to take advantage of the State Property Tax Relief Program.
According to Floyd, those who may be eligible for property tax relief are as follows:
• Citizens 65 years of age or older;
• Those drawing social security disability;
• Citizens with an income of less than $26,830;
• Those classified as 100 percent disabled veterans.
This year, citizens may qualify for the State of Tennessee to pay up to $125 of their property tax payment.
The Weakley County Trustee’s office is currently accepting applications.
Also, local citizens may download applications from the County’s website at http://www.weakleycountytn.gov/ or visit the Trustees office Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Floyd will be making home visits on Saturdays and Sundays to enroll applicants who are unable to visit the courthouse. Please contact the office at 731-364-3643 to arrange for an appointment.
“This is a completely free program and does not ever have to be repaid,” Floyd said.
“If you live within the city limits, you may qualify for additional benefits through your respected city. If you have any questions about this program, please contact us.”
