Martin Beautiful winners Posted: Friday, September 24, 2010 9:45 am The Martin Beautiful Committee announced the 2010 winners of its annual Most Beautiful awards at the Mayor’s Kick-Off Luncheon of the Soybean Festival. The residences belong to Dr. Harold and Mrs. Dottie Smith of 220 Laura St. and Chad Long of 417 Main St. In the business bracket the First State Bank branch, located at 123 University Plaza, garnered the prize. In the church category, moving up to glory so to speak, Central Baptist Church of 801 Harrison Road was the winner. Brian Brown Greenway was recognized as the Outstanding Public Place. The Festival Park Gazebo tended by the Busbys (Busy Bob) received the winning nod for the Adopt-A-Site. Those winners will have a Martin Beautiful recognition sign placed at their location for one year. They will be placed soon. Thanks to the forward thinking and acting of Martin Beautiful Event Coordinator Lon May and Martin Beautiful website planner Russell Cook, site pictures of those winning locations are available at martinbeautiful.org. Those photos were posted by the end of the luncheon that day. Please thank these winners as you see them. There are so many worthy places in Martin that can be nominated. Please plan to make a nomination next spring.wcp 9/23/10 |
