Union City police are investigating the discovery of counterfeit $20 bills at a local night club.
Police responded shortly before 2 a.m. Saturday to Shenanigan’s at 2227 Phebus Lane, where the owner told police he had received two counterfeit $20 bills from a customer, according to a Union City Police Department report.
The customer told police he had received the money from an unknown female patron who sent him to the bar for drinks. He said he did not know the woman’s identity.
The bar owner checked the cash register and found two more fake $20 bills which had also been passed, for a total of four counterfeit bills. All four bills had the same serial number and did not appear to contain a security thread, according to the report.
