Completed arrangements area being announced for Jim Vowell, 72, of the McConnell community, who died Sept. 15, 2010, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
Services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Hornbeak Funeral Home in Fulton, with the Rev. David Bayer officiating. Burial will follow in East Side Cemetery in Martin.
Friends may call at the funeral home 10 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Saturday.
The family requests that memorials be made to American Cancer Society, 302 Carr St., Fulton, KY 42041; or Fulton Cumberland Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 5343, South Fulton, TN 38257.
He was born Aug. 15, 1938, in Obion County, son of the late Roy C. and Lyvenia (Williams) Vowell. He had lived in the McConnell community all his life and had worked at the former Fields Ashby Lumber Co. in Fulton and Shoemaker Lumber Co. in McKenzie. He was a member of Fulton Cumberland Presbyterian Church in South Fulton.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Betty (Johnson) Vowell; two sons, Tim Vowell of Union City and Tab Vowell of Jackson; his daughter, Paige Pager of Huntington Beach, Calif.; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Jasper Vowell of Fulton and Tab Vowell of Louisville, Ky.; and two sisters, Maggie Cummings of Lexington, Ky., and Janie Huddleston Parker of Brentwood.
