Devilettes can boast of perfect 10 status

South Fulton is a perfect (10)-0.

The Devilettes improved their record — becoming the first local middle school softball team to reach double digits in the win column — after a doubleheader sweep (10-0 in Game 1 and 14-0 in the second contest) of Black Oak on Tuesday.

Other middle school softball action on Tuesday saw Hillcrest prevail 14-4 over Ridgemont, while Union City split a doubleheader with Dyer. The Lady Twisters fell 5-4 in the opener, but bounced back for a 5-1 victory in Game 2.

In other junior high softball news, Lake Road’s stats from its 9-4 victory over Hillcrest on Monday were reported to The Messenger on time.

However, due to an unknown e-mail glitch, the newspaper staff did not receive the stats in time for print on Tuesday.

On Monday against Hillcrest, winning pitcher Paige Russell struck out six for the Lady Generals, while Abby Shelton had two hits and three RBI.

Additionally, LR’s Lynsey Berner tripled and drove in a pair for the victors.

Lake Road returns to action on Thursday at Martin.

The following is a roundup of Tuesday’s games as reported to The Messenger.

SF 10-14, Black Oak 0-0

Moranda Johns (Game 1) and Sierra Coley (Game 2) both spun one-hitters against the Lady Eagles.

In the opener, Johns was aided by the offensive effort of Sydney Easterwood, who knocked three hits and drove in a trio.

Additionally, Alli Ruddle and Katie Watkins each had a ribbie during the first game. Black Oak’s Abigail Simmon accounted for her team’s lone hit in Game 1.

In the second game, Amanda Allen, Sierra Coley, Kristen Crocker and Kaitlyn Greer chased one run home each.
