Mattie Virginia “Nub” Thomas, 87, of Hickman, Ky., died Sept. 9, 2010, at Parkway Regional Hospital in Fulton.
Services were set for 2:30 p.m. today at Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church, with the Revs. James Roberson and Michael Benford officiating. Burial was to follow in Hickman City Cemetery.
Pallbearers were to be her grandsons, great-grandsons and nephews. Honorary pallbearers were to be Charles Harvey, Henry Thomas, Andre Curtis, Calvin Wilson, Joe Cheirs, Anthony Curtis and George Robertson.
Strong Funeral Home in Hickman was in charge of arrangements.
She was born May 29, 1923, in Hickman, daughter of the late Henry Clay and Annie (Williams) Poole. She was the widow of James Edward Thomas and was a member of Bryant Chapel Free Will Baptist Church in Hickman.
She is survived by two daughters, Helen Harvey and Dorothy Benford, both of Hickman; three sons, Roy Thomas of Hickman, James W. “Bud” Thomas of Chicago and Henry Thomas of Union City; two sisters, Annie Poole and Mary Poole, both of Hickman; and 22 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by two sons, Freddie Lee Thomas and an infant son; her infant daughter; two sisters, Lorie Smith and Virgie Poole; and her brother, George Poole.
