James Wilson Maddox Jr., 93, of Murray, Ky., formerly of Mayfield, Ky., died Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2010 at Hickman Clinton ICF, Clinton, Ky.
A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church in Mayfield with a private burial at Mayfield Memory Gardens with Byrn Funeral Home, Mayfield.
Maddox was the son of the late James Sr. and Virginia Smith Maddox a World War II and Korean War United States Army veteran, a retired sales rep with Schering Plough Pharmaceutical, past member of Mayfield First United Methodist Church and attended First United Methodist Church in Martin.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Louise Crockett Maddox of Murray; five daughters and four sons-in-law, Vicky and Joe David Smith, Denise and Tommy Melvin, Jill and Don Holshouser and Amanda Watts, all of Mayfield and Suzie and Steve Cathey of Murray; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and two step great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Belinda Boyd Maddox; and one brother, Dr. Tom Maddox.
Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church in Mayfield or the First United Methodist Church in Martin.
