James S. L. Nichols

James S. L. Nichols, 91, of Dresden, died Saturday, Sept. 4, 2010 at the Volunteer Community Hospital, Martin.
Services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Bowlin Funeral Home Chapel, Dresden with Bro. Mark Earheart officiating. Burial was in East Side Cemetery, Martin.
Tom Spence, Don Dunning, Wally Fuch, Donny McWherter, Gerald Taylor and Larry Jolley served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearer was Charles McWherter.
Nichols was born Nov. 6, 1918, son of the late Arlin and Etta McWherter Nichols. He was retired as a security guard for General Motors, members of Masonic Lodge in Redford Township, Mich. and Metropolitan Craft Lodge #519 for 52 years, and a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Eileen Miller Nichols of Dresden; one stepson and stepdaughter-in-law, Jim and Glenda Simpson of Memphis; two stepgrandcildren, Andrea and Chris Blaylock of Memphis, Amanda and Matt Cienku of Irving, Texas; and five step-great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Mable Stow Nichols; and one sister, Ozetta Dunning.
