The Messenger has learned of the death of Mary (Evans) Bateman, 78, of Antioch, Ill., a former resident of Hickman, Ky., who died July 30, at her home.
Memorial services are planned for 11 a.m. Saturday at Hickman City Cemetery, with the Rev. Billy Uzzle officiating. There will be no visitation. Strong Funeral Home in Hickman is in charge of arrangements.

She was the daughter of the late James Herman and Josie Lee Evans and was a member of Church of Jesus Christ in Hickman.
Survivors include four sons and three daughters-in-law, Terry and Darlene Bateman and Perry and Robin Bateman, all of Willow Brook, Ill., Kerry and Carleen Bateman of Antioch and Rocky Bateman of Cicero, Ill.; three daughters and her son-in-law, Shiela and Stan Skord of Antioch and Cassandra Landa and Stephanie Landa, both of Tennessee; her brother, Ross Evans of Hickman; and 19 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by three sons, Walter D. Bateman, Jerry W. Bateman and Randy Bateman; her daughter, Cynthia Landa; and two grandchildren, Julie Bateman and James Bateman.
