| Alex Reid ran for four touchdowns, setting up one of his scores with a 35-yard interception return, during Union City’s 44-28 triumph over Lake County on the middle school gridiron Tuesday evening. Reid had two touchdowns that spanned seven yards, while he also made a 22-yard scamper to paydirt and a one-yard dive to the endzone. In other junior high football action on Tuesday, Lake Road was shut out (22-0) by Gibson County. Thursday’s middle school slate has South Fulton set to host Black Oak, while Ridgemont will entertain Hillcrest. The following is a roundup of Tuesday’s games as reported to The Messenger. UC 44, Lake Co. 28 UC’s Channing Green also had two TDs — the first a five-yarder and the second a 55-yard dash — for the Golden Tornadoes (4-0, 3-0 in West Tennessee Athletic Conference play). Jacob Hyde accounted for six Union City points with three successful two-point conversions. Defensively, Tristan Jernigan recorded a safety, while Cortez Bell had a team-best six tackles. Additionally, Ricky Henry and Reid made five stops each. UC returns to action next Tuesday at Northview. Gibson Co. 22, LR 0 Gibson County blanked Lake Road 22-0 on the junior high gridiron Tuesday night. GC led 14-0 at halftime. Offensively, Brett Jackson rushed for 40 yards, while Juan Morales had a 15-yard catch for the Generals (0-4). Dalton Hayes topped the LR tackle chart with four stops. The Generals play at Black Oak on Sept. 16. | | | |
