Dot Mitchell Posted: Wednesday, September 8, 2010 3:44 pm The Messenger, September 8, 2010 The Messenger has learned of the death of Dorothy “Dot” Mitchell, 81, of Gainesville, Fla., a former resident of Union City, who died Aug. 27, 2010, at Gainesville Healthcare Center. She was buried at Florida National Cemetery Sept. 2. A memorial service is planned for 1 p.m. Saturday at Celebration United Methodist Church at 9501 SW Archer Road in Gainesville. Mrs. Mitchell was born Dec. 21, 1928, in Union City, daughter of the late Harold and Molene (Caldwell) McDaniel. She had lived in Union City until January 2003. Survivors include her husband of 44 years, V.P. “Pat” Mitchell; her daughter, Kimberly (Mitchell) Peterson; her son, Kelley Mitchell of Gainesville; her brother and two sisters-in-law, Michael C. McDaniel and Jane McDaniel and Louise McDaniel; and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Bettye Jean “Bet” Beachum and Kathryn “Kat” Craddock; two brothers, Gerald “Bubba” McDaniel and Jimmy McDaniel; two brothers-in-law, Ray Beachum and Gene Craddock; her sister-in-law, Velma McDaniel; and her stepson, Michael “Mike” Mitchell. |
