Clarence Jones Posted: Tuesday, September 7, 2010 1:50 pm The Messenger, September 7, 2010 Clarence Damon Jones, 88, of Newbern, a former resident of Obion, died Sept. 5, 2010, at the home of his son and daughter-in-law, Randy L. and Gwen Jones of Newbern. A memorial service will be announced at a later date by Johnson-Williams Funeral Home in Newbern. He was born Aug. 8, 1922, in Troy, son of the late Loied and Daisy (Smith) Jones. He had been married to the late Pauline Stewart Jones. He was a retired radio announcer for WASL/WTRO and WCMT and was an avid film collector. Survivors also include his stepdaughter, Rita Stewart of Dyersburg; three stepsons, Charles Stewart of Las Vegas, Stanley Stewart of San Antonio and Jerry Glenn Stewart of Arlington, Texas; and his grandson, Randy William Loied Jones of Newbern. He was also preceded in death by his stepdaughter, Maxine (Stewart) McKnight; his stepson, Jimmy Stewart; and his brother, James L. “Buddy” Jones.
