THP announces holiday road blocks
The Tennessee Highway Patrol will be conducting sobriety checkpoint roadblocks in Gibson County on Friday, Sept. 3 and in Weakley County on Monday, Sept. 6 (Labor Day). A sobriety checkpoint will take place on U.S. Hwy. 45E at the Weakley County line Friday evening.Another sobriety checkpoint is planned for Monday evening on State RT 54 in Weakley County.
Recognizing the danger presented to the public by intoxicated drivers, troopers will concentrate their efforts on vehicles being operated by drivers who would violate the law by operating under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. The Tennessee Highway Patrol has found these sobriety checkpoint roadblocks to be an effective means of enforcing the Driving Under the Influence statues of Tennessee while ensuring the protection of all motorists.
