WCP 9.2.10 Mrs. Evelyn S. Pounds, 83, of Martin Healthcare Center, formerly of Water Valley, Ky. died Monday, Aug. 30, 2010 at the Volunteer Community Hospital, Martin.
Services were held at 10 a.m. today at the Jackson Funeral Home Chapel in Dukedom with Rev. Gayle Barnes and Rev. Gerald Barnes officiating. Burial was held at Good Springs Cemetery.
Mrs. Pounds was born Feb. 19, 1927 in Ashland, Ky., daughter of the late Clay and Daisy Mary Davidson Sheffield. She preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Charles William “Billy” Pounds. She was an employee of the Volunteer Community Hospital for 18 years in the cafeteria department, and a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church in Wingo, Ky.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry and Donna Pounds of Houston, Dean and Carol Pounds of South Fulton; one brother, Ray Sheffield of Ashland; one sister-in-law, Wyonna Pruitt Brown of South Fulton; four grandchildren, Kenneth W. Pounds, Tracy Pounds and Shelly Pounds, all of Houston, and Brandi Shempert of South Fulton; and four great-grandchildren, Daniel J. Pounds, Gavin Pounds, Kailey Shempert and Miranda Pounds.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
