GOLDEN ANNIVERSARY — Mr. and Mrs. Leonard L. Blake of Hornbeak will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary Friday. To honor the occasion, the couple went on a week-long trip to Gatlinburg with their children and grandchildren earlier this year. They were also honored with a small reception held at Mt. Zion Church of Christ in Hornbeak Sunday. He married the former Dona Mai Bruce Sept. 3, 1960, in Akron, Mich. The late Lucien Palmer officiated. She is the daughter of Mary A. Bruce of Union City and the late Edgar R. Bruce. She is a homemaker and a quilt maker. He is the son of Lowell Blake of Newton, Iowa, and the late Louise Blake. He is a retired social worker and is resident manager at Reelfoot Youth Camp in Hornbeak. They are the parents of Mary Johnson of Thornton, Colo., Leonard “Lenny” Blake II of Hayes, Va., William “Billy” Blake of Buford, Ga., and Elisabeth “Beth” Ansede of Aiken, S.C. They have 11 grandchildren and are expecting two great-grandchildren soon.
