|Alex Reid ran for three touchdowns to lead the Union City Middle School football team to its third victory in as many starts — a 34-14 triumph at Halls — Tuesday night. |
Reid hit paydirt on scampers of 12, 7 and 11 yards for the Jr. Tornadoes, who improved to 3-0 overall and 2-0 in West Tennessee Athletic Conference play.
In the only other middle school gridiron game involving a local team Tuesday night, Three Oaks got the best of Ridgemont 22-6.
Thursday’s action has Hillcrest at Lake Road and Fulton County at Black Oak.
The following is a roundup of Tuesday’s games.
Union City 34, Halls 14
Jacob Hyde opened the scoring for the Twisters with a 15-yard scoring gallop and also had a pair of two-point conversions for the victors.
Channing Green tacked on UC’s final TD with a 10-yard jaunt in the final period.
Both Reid and Jamie Pirtle were in on seven tackles apiece to pace the Purple and Gold defense.
Union City’s next game is Sept. 7, a home game vs. WTAC foe Lake County.
Three Oaks 22, R’mont 6
The Ridgemont defense kept its team in the hunt for three quarters before giving way on Tuesday.
The Mustangs trailed 6-0 through three quarters before Three Oaks struck for two more touchdowns in the final canto.
Alberto Vasquez paced R’mont with six tackles, while Mason Parker and Zach Parker each had five stops.
Additionally, Dillon Potter and Cameron Chessor were each in on four stops apiece.
Offensively, Jacob Sisk ran for a 38-yard score as time expired to account for the only Ridgemont score.
Nathan King also caught one pass for a six-yard gain.
Alberto Vasquez rushed for 36 yards on eight carries for a R’mont offensive unit that lost two fumbles and threw two interceptions.
Ridgemont hosts Hillcrest Sept. 9 at 5:30.
