City of Dresden to declare open board slot

City of Dresden to declare open board slot
Dresden alderman Joyce Hurt recently resigned her position as a board member to become a candidate for the mayoral seat in November. Hurt’s resignation leaves a vacancy on the board of aldermen.
Hurt will vie against incumbent Mayor Danny Forrester, who publicly announced his intent to retire from the slot in the spring of this year.
The City of Dresden Board of Mayor and Aldermen will hold a special called meeting at 6 p.m. this Wednesday at Dresden City Hall to officially declare the board vacancy and call for qualifying candidates.
Interested alderman candidates will have until noon on Wednesday, Sept. 8 to qualify for this two-year seat at the Weakley County Election Commission office in Dresden. The candidate for this seat will be elected during the Nov. 2 election and will hold the position for two years.
The special meeting is open to the public.
