50 a very nifty margin for Red Devil linksters
Fifty was very nifty for the South Fulton boys’ golf team on Tuesday.
The Red Devils bested Westview by that many strokes, claiming an easy 168-218 victory.
Meanwhile, the SF girls weren’t as fortunate in a 100-112 defeat to Greenfield.
South Fulton’s Chase Mayfield recorded the afternoon’s lowest score — a 36.
Additionally, Hunter Hutchins fired a 40, while J.B. Graves carded a 46 and Easten Woolf came to the clubhouse with a 47 for the victors.
Hunter Faulkner also took to the links for the Red Devils, but his 51 did not count in his team’s cumulative total.
Westview’s Austin Smith shot a very respectable 40, while Devansh Acharya totaled 47 for the Charger team.
After that, W’view’s Dylan Scwan and Taylor Lybroke totaled a 61 and 70, respectively.
Greenfield also participated on the boys’ side, but the team only brought three players — one short of the required four to compete as a squad.
Tony Robinson had the ’Jackets’ low score with a 45, while Matt Keeling shot a 49 and Matt Sawyers totaled a 67.
For the SF girls, McKenze Pane totaled a 53, while Sara Lynn Eaves finished at 59.
Greenfield’s Haley Rawls was the overall ladies medalist with a 41, while teammate McCall Scates came in at 59.
The South Fulton golf teams return to action on Thursday at Goodyear Wingfoot Golf Course against Union City.
Dyersburg downed Obion Central 161-188 on the prep golf links Tuesday afternoon at Wynridge Greens in Troy.
Cameron Green was the Rebels’ medalist with a 42. OC’s Garrett Booth finished with a 47, while Ryan Middlebrook shot a 48 and Trevor Riley carded a 51.
Austin Rudd also played on Tuesday, but his 55 was not counted in the Rebels’ final tally.
On the girls’ side, Dyersburg did not have enough ladies to field a team with just one girl participating.
That said, Ashlyn Runions totaled a 55, while Krissy Worrell (60) and Samantha Wallace (63)  also took to the links for OC in what turned out to be a practice round.
The Rebel golf teams play Halls at Dyersburg Muncipal Golf Course next Tuesday.
