When the Cloverdale Church of Christ closed its doors for church services, Linda and Howard Truett wanted to keep the beautiful little church building open.
They have successfully done so with the opening of Country Cottage Florist and Cloverdale Wedding Chapel at 3569 Cloverdale Road in the Cloverdale community near Elbridge.
Mrs. Truett said the church has a long history in the rural Obion County community.
“The original building was purchased from Sears & Roebuck. The stained glass windows are just part of the beautiful setting,” she said. “We wanted to preserve the historical building and felt it would be perfect for the Cloverdale Wedding Chapel.”
She said the lovely country church will seat about 125 people, adding that, in today’s economy, many couples are having smaller wedding ceremonies and putting more into their receptions.
“Our chapel is perfect for a beautiful, calm, stress-free venue to exchange wedding vows,” she said. “We have wedding packages for everyone’s price range and will strive to make the day a wonderful time for the whole wedding party.”
The chapel also has a bride’s room and a groom’s room with private entrances for the wedding party’s convenience.
Country Cottage Florist is also on site and can provide beautiful flowers for any occasion. Brides may choose anything from fresh floral to high-quality silks.
In addition to wedding and specialty flowers for any occasion, the florist is available for funeral, memorial, remembrance and Dec-oration Day arrangements. Also available are Carson wind chimes, musical lighted churches and gifts for anyone. Purchases can be delivered to funeral homes in Obion, Lake and Dyer counties.
Country Cottage also has wedding rentals and can provide as much or as little planning and organizing as clients would like. Mrs. Truett is also available to help clients with weddings at the venue of their choice.
An open house for the new business is being planned for the near future, with details to be announced.
For more information about the chapel and florist, call 446-7672, 538-3380 or 693-6251. Mrs. Truett said the business will be listed on Facebook as Cloverdale Wedding Chapel.
