| A former Sharon man was sentenced to four years in prison in connection with an accident in Illinois that cost his stepson’s life. During Labor Day weekend in 2008, Robert Rowe and his 18-year-old stepson, Justin Scott Sanders of Sharon were involved in a head-on collision with a tractor trailer in Iroquois County, Ill. Sanders died as a result of injuries sustained during the accident. Rowe was charged with aggravated DUI. In April of this year, Rowe was indicted on six additional counts including driving while under the influence of pain pills, marijuana and nerve pills. The accused pled guilty to one count of the seven-count indictment in June. Rowe pled guilty to aggravated driving while under the influence of marijuana. During a sentencing hearing on Thursday in Illinois, Rowe was sentenced to four years in prison for the guilty plea. He is ordered to serve 85 percent of the sentence. WCP 8.24.10 | | | |
