Retired teachers treated to meal | Obion County-Union City Retired Teachers Association
Members of Obion County-Union City Retired Teachers Association were treated to an annual luncheon at Another Thyme in Union City by Commercial Bank and Trust.
Jack Parker, president of the bank, was the speaker. He and the bank gave a generous check for the group’s Reelfoot Rural Ministry food drive and gifts for each teacher attending.
President Alice Fennel called the meeting to order. After the pledge to the United States flag, Jeff Bell, minister at Bishop Street Church of Christ, gave the devotional.
Ina Orsborne read the minutes of the May meeting and Gloria Howell gave the treasurer’s report. Mary Dunavant gave the community participation report for this year. A short business meeting was conducted by Mrs. Fennel.
“Thinking of you” cards were signed by all for the retired teachers’ shut-ins.
The meeting was adjourned and the meal was enjoyed.
Parker and Jackie Albright from the bank’s First Street branch and Tim Shanks from the Reelfoot branch mingled with the teachers after the meeting.
