The South Fulton boys’ golf team needed to squint if it looked back to find second place on Tuesday.
The Red Devils’ cumulative score of 166 was 37 strokes ahead of second-place Westview and 46 shots better than last-place Halls at the three-team match within the confines of the Fulton Country Club.
SF’s Chase Mayfield tied with Westview’s Austin Smith for match medalist honors as each fired a 36.
Meanwhile, Red Devil Hunter Hutchins carded a 39, Easton Woolf totaled a 44 and J.B. Graves finished at 47.
Devilette McKenzie Pane bested Westview’s lone girl Tara Wilkey 45-56 in an one-on-one match.
In other prep links play from Tuesday, the Obion Central boys finished in a tie for second at a three-way match against Dyersburg and Trenton.
The Rebels totaled 189 to pull even with Trenton, but Dyersburg’s 165 set the pace on Tuesday at Wynridge Greens in Troy.
OC’s Garrett Booth, Trevor Riley and Austin Rudd all came to the clubhouse with 46s.
Ryan Middlebrook carded a 51 to round out the Rebel scorecard.
Finally, the Union City boys came home fourth, while their female counterparts were third at a multiple-team match at Carroll Lake Golf Course near McKenzie.
The Twister boys totaled a 190 — nineteen strokes off the pace of Camden and McKenzie, which shared the match win with 171s, but three strokes better than last place Huntingdon.
Union City’s Josh McManus fired a team-low 39, while Turner Ams carded a 49, Caleb Long finished with a 50 and Wesley Hale accounted for a 52.
On the girls’ side, the UC girls scored a 107 — 17 swings behind first-place Camden, but six shots up on last-place Clarksburg.
Lady Twister Mollie Stone tied for the second-lowest score of the day with a 44.
Sarah Riley shot a 63 for Union City.
South Fulton and Obion Central return to the links at a three-way match with Gibson County in Troy on Thursday.
UC and OC battle on Monday at Poplar Meadows Country Club.
