OC girls’ soccer team
can boast of SF win

History was made on Monday.
The Obion Central girls’ soccer team claimed bragging rights within the county after its 8-1 victory over upstart South Fulton in the season-opener for both squads and the first varsity meeting between the two programs.
OC’s Paige Hicks led the charge with a total of three goals, while teammate Mandi McDaniel found the net twice.
Otherwise, Maddie Bell, Madison Turner and Kelsey Gibson had one goal each for the Lady Rebels.
The game was hotly-contested at halftime with OC ahead by a slim 1-0 margin.
Both goalies (Central’s Taylor Baker and SF’s Bethany Graves) turned in stellar first halves.
The Lady Rebels return to action this afternoon at 5 in Troy against Dyer County. South Fulton travels to Westview next Monday.

The Lady Twisters, who totaled a 95, were nine shots off the pace and third at the three-team match. The host Lady Bulldogs carded an 86 to claim the victory.
In boys’ links play, Union City fell 174-200 to Gibson County on Monday at Poplar Meadows Country Club.
