Queen of Kitchen
Posted: Monday, August 23, 2010 8:01 pm KITCHEN QUEEN — Teresa Vinson of Union City took home Best of Show honors for her strawberry cake and Pecan Sandy Pie at the 2010 Obion County Fair last week. And the “icing on the cake” was her opportunity to claim the title “Queen of the Kitchen” after the 30 food item entries earned her 15 first-place slots, five second-place ribbons and five third-place wins. Mrs. Vinson, who is chief quality officer at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City and a member of the administrative team, is the wife of Dale Vinson. Their family includes their son and daughter-in-law, Jonathan and Paige Vinson of Union City, and their grandson, Owen Vinson. “I love to cook and entertain and enjoy having family, friends and co-workers to my house for dinner. I also love cooking baked goods and taking them to senior citizens, friends who have had surgery and families who have lost loved ones. I guess you could say cooking is my ministry,” says the 2010 Queen of the Kitchen. Her favorite recipes have also been featured in several publications and the annual cookbook she produces that includes cooking tips and decorating ideas. Her skills are in special demand at the hospital, where she provides special treats for a variety of events and teaches an annual “Christmas Lunch and Learn” event and at Calvary Baptist Church, where she donates her time and talent in many areas of service. Mrs. Vinson is also an Obion County Cancer Agency board member and certified volunteer with the American Cancer Society’s “Reach to Recovery” program.
