UCMS softballers
use broom on LC

The Union City Middle School softball team brought out the brooms on Thursday.
The Lady Twisters swept Lake County in a doubleheader — claiming a 14-3 victory in Game 1 and an 8-4 triumph in the second game.
In the opener, Ashley Faught hurled a one-hitter for UC.
Courtney Sherrill was a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs batted in and a triple, while Kristian Davis homered, tripled and drove in four.
Kealie Reaves also had a pair of ribbies in the opener.
In Game 2, Davis claimed the mound win, singled twice and chased home one run.
Caroline Chism and Bayleigh Powers each had two ribbies in the second contest. Sherrill singled twice.
Union City returns to action on Sept. 7 at home against Trenton.

W’ridge winners
card 9-under-par

The combination of Doug Cunningham, Jay Cunningham, Britt Cunningham, Brian Kissell and Vann Kissell combined to shoot a 9-under-par and win the weekly men’s scramble at Wynridge Greens in Troy Thursday.
Meanwhile, the team of Bim Barker, Bryan Barker, David Puckett, Lucas Wilds and Cory Grady got second place with a cumulative total of 7-under.
Wynridge Greens holds its weekly men’s scramble every Thursday.

Big Martin inning
to much for R’mont

Martin Middle School bested Ridgemont 12-1 on the middle school softball diamond Thursday.
The Lady Panthers struck for eight runs in the third inning to build a more than sufficient cushion.
Offensively, MiKayla Scillion, Jessica Hobbs, Landry Webster, Stella Preuett and Keaton Cooper each had a hit for R’mont.
Macey Beeler absorbed the mound defeat.
Defensively, Webster doubled off a runner after a catch of a fly ball, while Beeler made a nice snag on a hit up the middle.
The Lady Mustangs (0-3) return to action on Monday at home against Hillcrest.
