KIWANIS DONATES — The Martin Kiwanis Club donates an AED to the Martin Middle School Sports Program.  AEDs (Automated External Defibrillators) work! A living testimonial to that is Trey Parks whose life was saved by an AED during a recent football practice in Callaway County, Ky. The thirteen year old went into sudden cardiac arrest after a routine hit during practice. Luckily, an AED was close at hand and was used to restart Trey’s heart. The Martin Kiwanis Club’s goal for the last three years has been to put AEDs in every school in Weakley County. The Club’s new goal is to provide portable AEDs to every Weakley County School that has a sports program. The club is accepting donations to speed the placement of the AEDs. If you can help, contact club treasurer, Steve Lemond at 881-7895 or donations can be taken to Lana Carpenter at WCMT located at N. Lindell St. in Martin. On hand for the donation were Martin Kiwanis Club members Jayne Parrish, Misty Menees, Steve Lemond, Lana Carpenter, MMS Football Coach Mike Stigall, Martin Kiwanis Club President Terry Duncan, Kiwanis Club member Shelia Bell, Dylan Parks, Trey Parks, Brad Parks and Eve Parks.
