The Dresden Duplicate Bridge Club met at the American Legion with six tables of players attending.
We wanted to prepare our bridge players to compete and come in first, second or third place. Since all our players have a propensity to win, these places are difficult to achieve. If we don’t win, we come back the next week to try again.
While everyone is playing, the players had a chance to partake of the food This week we had delicious Fresh Peach Crisp Chiffon Cake. Our Cake Lady, Alma Ford, out did herself. You can only make this cake when fresh peaches are available. There were other cheeses, water mellon and nuts and bolts, but nothing could compare with that delicious cake.
Winners for the day were N/S first Dr. Bob Sanner and Dr. Tom Beard, second Roberta Meyer and Gene Fulks and third Carolyn Rogers and Ruthie Jenkins. Winners for E/W were: first- Reba Nell Brasfield and Jane Young, second-Freddye Oliver and Toni Pritchett and third-Carol Ehlers and Jackie Hohman. Flight B winners were Alma Ford and Linda Jennings and Sharon Fields and Mercedes Engle.
Now, we will wrap up our visit to the White House by visiting The Queen’s Bedroom.
During the 20th century, queens visiting the United States from Great Britain, the Netherlands and Greece were accommodated in this room. Its decor of red, rose and white offers a pleasant, regal setting.
The rooms described in the last eight articles are only some which have been used throughout the history of the White House. Each room includes many origiinal pieces as well as excellent copies of period pieces. A visit to the nation’s capital cannot be called complete unless it includes a visit to the President’s home, The White House. wcp 8/12/10
