Dela Sigma Theta host Concert
Posted: Friday, August 20, 2010 3:14 pm CONCERT HELD — Ladies of Delta Sigma Theta hosted the third annual Phyllis Easley Memorial Concert on Thursday, Aug. 12. The audience was captured by a slideshow presentation from the National Children’s Defense Fund titled, “What About the Children?” The choir, which consists of children ages 5-12, performed 10 gospel songs in addition to spoken words. A special medley of gospel music was peformed on the piano by Allie Abbott, student of Patrice Boyd. FAMILY MEMBERS — Family members of Phyllis Easley attended a concert in her honor on Aug. 12. The concert had about 200 in attendance which represented a wide variety of community faith organizations. Each participant received a trophy and numerous accolades from the crowd. $500 was raised and contributed to Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation in memory of Phyllis Easley, who lost her battle in 2005. Total contributions for three years exceeds $1,500. Family members included Marshall Alexander, Oma Pearson, Joanne Alexander, James Bransford, Greg Alexander, Krystal Alexander, Sheila Brasher and Jordan Alexander.
